PRIME MONTESSORI ACADEMY

The Discipline & Grace Compendium

INTERNAL POLICY FRAMEWORK

A Unified Philosophy of Guidance, Dignity, and Restorative Practice

This Compendium forms part of the Prime Core Enrollment Agreement and establishes the behavioral standards governing all enrolled families.

I. Our Guiding Ethos

At Prime Montessori Academy, discipline is not reaction.
It is artistry.

It is the quiet shaping of character through unwavering dignity, reverent attention, and the steadfast belief that childhood must be protected—not managed.

We do not correct a child; we cultivate the adult they are becoming.

This Compendium establishes the behavioral philosophy, guidance framework, and conduct expectations governing all enrolled students and forms a material component of the Academy’s enrollment agreement.

It is incorporated into and governed by the Prime Core Enrollment Agreement and constitutes a material condition of enrollment and continued attendance.

Our approach is anchored in three unwavering principles:

1. The Protection of the Child’s Inner Life

Children are whole, capable human beings.
Behavior communicates need, not defiance.
Our response must honor the child’s spirit, never diminish it.

2. Graceful Leadership Through Modeling

Adults lead softly—through tone, posture, rhythm, and restraint.
Authority in a Montessori setting is calm, benevolent, and deeply grounded.

3. Restorative Growth Over Punishment

We restore connection, clarity, and responsibility.
We do not shame, threaten, bribe, isolate, or coerce.

Discipline at Prime is a relational and restorative process grounded in Montessori principles.

  • True discipline begins before a child missteps.
It begins in an environment designed with intention and reverence.

    Curated Ateliers That Prevent Conflict
Purposeful materials, aesthetic restraint, and order guide behavior before correction is required.

Predictable Rhythms That Anchor the Day
Consistency, flow, and structure support emotional regulation.

Grace & Courtesy as Daily Practice
Children are explicitly taught how to move, speak, wait, and repair within community.

    Grounded Adult Presence
The adult remains calm, neutral, and unwavering in boundary.

    The adult is the environment.

  • Behavior requires intervention when it:

    • compromises physical or emotional safety
    • disrupts the learning environment
    • interferes with concentration or development
    • affects the well-being of others
    • forms a repeated or escalating pattern

We respond with solutions, not labels.
    With curiosity, not frustration.

The Academy retains sole discretion in determining when behavior requires intervention.

  • All responses are:

    • dignified
    • logical
    • restorative
    • calm
    • developmentally appropriate

    We do not react.
    We restore equilibrium.

  • A Framework of Guidance, Grace, and Developmental Integrity

The Academy utilizes a graduated, restorative response model.

    Tier I — Redirection & Guidance
    Used for developmentally typical behaviors
Includes redirection, re-teaching, and environmental support

Tier II — Boundaries & Restorative Support
Used for repeated or disruptive behavior
May include documentation, family communication, and guided repair

    Tier III — Safety Intervention
Used when behavior involves safety concerns
Includes immediate intervention, administrative involvement, and same-day notification

    Tier IV — Reintegration
Supports the child’s return following dysregulation
Includes reflection, repair, and supported re-entry

Each tier represents an increase in support—not punishment.

  • In the event of physical aggression or unsafe behavior:

    • immediate intervention will occur
    • children may be separated
    • regulation support will be provided
    • documentation and family communication will occur

Repeated safety concerns may result in increased intervention, structured support planning, or administrative review.

  • Discipline at Prime is sustained through relationship and alignment.

    The Family agrees to:

    • support the Academy’s non-punitive, Montessori-aligned approach
    • refrain from introducing conflicting disciplinary methods
    • engage in good-faith partnership
    • respond with professionalism and cooperation

The Family acknowledges that lack of alignment, resistance to guidance, or interference with behavioral processes may impact enrollment status.

We guide the whole child—with the whole family.

  • All staff are trained in:

    • Montessori discipline
    • restorative practices
    • trauma-informed response
    • licensing requirements

Any violation of these standards results in immediate administrative action.

    Children are sacred.
    Adults must rise accordingly.

  • A Creed for the Curated Atelier

In our curated atelier, childhood is held as sacred.

We move with intention, speak with grace, and honor the dignity within every child.

We believe discipline is not a reaction, but a relationship – a steady devotion to clarity,

    consistency, and respect.

We guide with presence rather than pressure, modeling the calm we wish to awaken.

We hold boundaries as acts of love—not power.

We protect the conditions for concentration, belonging, and inner equilibrium.

Peace is not the absence of challenge,

but the practice of returning—again and again—to harmony, courage, and compassion.

XI. Family Communication Matrix

Communication is intentional, measured, and in service of the child.

The Academy communicates when:

• safety or injury is involved
• harm occurs to another child
• behavioral patterns emerge
• emotional regulation is compromised
• documentation is required

The Academy may not communicate for:

• developmentally typical, resolved moments
• minor peer interactions
• brief redirections
• isolated incidents

Communication is not reactive.
It is relational and purposeful.

  • The Academy retains sole discretion to:

    • determine behavioral responses
    • assess patterns
    • implement intervention strategies
    • determine escalation when necessary

All decisions are made in good faith to preserve:

    • child safety
    • staff well-being
    • community harmony
    • Montessori integrity

  • Notwithstanding any framework outlined above, the Academy reserves the right to proceed directly to administrative action—including removal, attendance restriction, or withdrawal—where circumstances reasonably warrant such action.

  • Behavioral alignment is a material condition of enrollment.

Repeated disruption, lack of progress, or misalignment may affect:

    • continued enrollment
    • classroom placement
    • re-enrollment eligibility

  • Discipline at Prime Montessori Academy is not about compliance.
It is about character, responsibility, and grace.

    We guide quietly.
    We protect intentionally.

XVI. Affirmation of Partnership

By signature confirmation within the Enrollment Compendium, the Family affirms that they:

• understand the Academy’s discipline philosophy
• agree to support a non-punitive, restorative approach
• accept Academy authority in behavioral matters
• acknowledge that behavior and alignment may impact enrollment status.

These standards are incorporated into the Enrollment Compendium and are binding upon all enrolled families.
